FLORENCE
An entry for TheNewDowse Friends student design and craft award.
This entry is a character design i created for one of my papers at tech, which i plan to use on labels and business cards when i get time to make some things to sell (such as the bow clutch purse in the 2nd image).
Florence has been relised in both digital and manual forms, the manual incorporating stitching, painting and upcycled fabric. Elements of the design protrude from the boards to engage the viewer such as the ribbon, buttons, tag and business card.
She is an old fashioned miss in the modern world symbolising my love of handcraft.
Imagine, Dream and Wonder
This is a series of hybrid illustrations that were produced in one of my classes at polytech, framed and entered in the local uni art exhibition.
Not sure if it qualifies as art but it looked good on the walls,
soon to be decorating some lucky buyers home!
These works are an exploration of child like innocence and imagination, titled
Imagine, Dream and Wonder.

BLIND AS A BAT
Another handmade badge, of a gorgeous wee bat with flocked body and brightly painted wings. Round catch glued to the back as well as handpainted initials and year.
DEER OH DEER!
A birthday card and envelope made for a friend, the central piece is removeable and can be worn as a badge. I like the idea of cards that double as a display for the present, and jewellery is especially suited to this approach.
I have recently come across a flocking kit, used on the two deer silhouettes to give a velvet feel. The floral fabric is upcycled from a bag lining, to offset the masculin imagery.
